North Shore Chau-TVA Senior Hockey League
Presentation
One of my goal at the beginning of the season was to change the image of this league and to acheive it I was certainly looking and needed your support. I, with the discipline committee have imposed stiff suspensions for certain infractions which were called by the referees considered as dangerous and dirty hits. Surely we would never eliminate all dirty hits in a game, but I'm convinced that it was reduced considerably. At our first meeting, I said that we need solid organizations that are ready to support each other in the following of the vision we had in mind and for the future years. We also needed to have a better show for our fans. Today I can say that it's been achieved. We have great fans and nevertheless a small number that left the arenas, we can say that the large numbers that stayed in are great ones and needs our encouragement.
I have appreciated my term as league's president. We had a well balanced league. The assistances were very good during the regular season and are projected to be extremely good during the playoffs. I know I had to take some hard decisions during the season but they were always taken for the good of the league and in all fairness.
I want to thank all the team's officials for their cooperation and hard work for the better recognition of the league. Also, I want to thank the executive members, Rock Girard, vice-president and especially our secretary-treasurer Tilmon for his excellent work and interest for the league, our disciplinary committee and our league statistician Guy Lagacé for his work.
Another of my priority was to see at the application of the Constitution and ruling from HNB as the intention for which they were created. By the way, you have until April 30th to send you're recommendations or modifications proposed to the Constitution to our secretary.
We also found the answer to one of your suggestion/request to find a person responsible for the public relations sector. Denis Landry came in and created a site for the league that has been working very well since it's beginning late last October. There are new plans for next year to give it many more enhancements. We may also propose a new position in our league's executive for next season as we would like to suggest that Denis should become our Public relationist. He will be responsible for, along with some other tasks, maintaining the credibility of the site. The Forum is still operated by Jason and it may be right if it stays that way since it gives the chance to the fans to be more at ease to give their opinion. We can control what's on our site but it would not be appropriate to control what the fans want to say or express.
I would also like to be sure not to forget to take notice of your implication in the provision of a new image of the league specially in the recruiting of younger players. The stats say that we have almost 51% of our players under the age of 26 years. This is great for the future. We still got a couple of old running shoes that doesn't want to stop but it doesn't mean that I would do a come-back as a player.
I would like to congratulate our league's champion for the regular season and that we will wait to see our league's champion compete in the provincial at Perth-Andover in April 2008. You'll find some statistics that are on our site like the one on the 132 game suspensions that I'm sure will be less next season. We have a workers and students league that like to play and doesn't want to have any injuries while doing it.
